Benapole port open on weekly holiday

The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has instructed to keep all other departments related to revenue collection including customs, VAT and income tax open as the budget activities are ongoing. As a result, as per the instructions of the NBR, the Benapole customs house and port were open on Saturday, a public holiday.

Confirming that import and export were ongoing, Benapole Customs House Additional Commissioner HM Shariful Islam said, “All activities including import and export trade through Benapole port are normal as on other days. Customs and port activities are ongoing.”

The Customs official said, “A letter signed by Umme Ayman Qashmi (Second Secretary Board Administration-1) on June 18 has informed that since the budget activities are ongoing in the NBR for the 2025-26 financial year, instructions have been given to keep the NBR and all other departments related to revenue collection including customs, VAT and income tax open on June 21 and 28.”

Benapole C&F Staff Association General Secretary Sajedur Rahman said, “Businessmen will benefit from the port being operational on government holidays. Revenue will increase slightly. Commodity congestion will decrease. We are happy.”
