Beneficiaries get cow calves, fish feed in Sonagazi

Sonagazi Upazila Fisheries Officer’s Office has distributed 16 cow calves among fishermen under the Hilsa Resource Development and Management Project.

On Saturday morning, in front of the Fisheries Office on the Upazila Parishad premises, Upazila Administrator and Upazila Nirbahi Officer Nazia Hossain distributed 16 the calves in the third phase as a means of providing alternative employment to 16 registered beneficiary fishermen families from among the marginal fishermen of the upazila.

UNO Nazia Hossain, Upazila Fisheries Officer Taslima Akhter, District Fisheries Office Accountant Mosharraf Hossain, Cluster Officer Sultan Begum and officials from various departments were present during the distribution.

UNO Nazia Hossain said, “I urge the registered fishermen to enrich the Hilsa resources by following the government orders and I encourage them to become self-reliant by raising the calves they received today. Instead of selling the cow calves, I strongly urge you to raise cows and create alternative employment by making your families prosperous.”

After the distribution of the cow calves, UNO Nazia Hossain distributed fish feed to 50 fish farmers who were severely affected by the floods of August 24 under the revenue budget of the 24-25 financial year.
