Carrie Kennedy Holds Meeting with Professor Ali Riaz

Robert F Kennedy Human Rights President Kerry Kennedy today met National Consensus Commission Vice-Chairman Professor Ali Riaz at the Commission’s office in Sangsad Bhaban here.
During the meeting, detailed discussions took place regarding the progress and objectives of the Consensus Commission, said a press release.
Ali Riaz stated that the National Consensus Commission aims to bring people together to build a prosperous, democratic, and accountable state.
He emphasized that the Commission seeks to establish a national charter outlining the specific vision for Bangladesh's future.
To achieve this, he said, the initial phase of discussions with political parties is nearing completion, and the Commission will soon commence the second phase of deliberations.
Ali Riaz noted “Only a democratic state can safeguard citizens’ rights, uphold the rule of law, and ensure that an independent judiciary delivers justice effectively to the people.”
Carrie Kennedy expressed satisfaction with the progress of the Consensus Commission and extended best wishes for its success.
