Commuters are suffering much for a deplorable 9-km road from Chakamaya Nishanbaria Village to Taltoli Tarikata in Kalapara Upazila of the district.

The road has been riddled with potholes, causing endless suffering for the people. Within a year of the renovation, the road has become unfit for traffic. Thousands of people travel on this road every day in hundreds of vehicles, facing endless suffering.

Locals complain that the road has become in such a state due to poor quality repairs and illegal six-wheeled trolleys. People are suffering due to the poor condition of this road, which was built by the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED). Rainwater has accumulated in hundreds of potholes, which has now increased the suffering.

Local resident Riaz Talukder said, “Low-quality materials were used during the renovation. In addition, the road has been damaged the most due to illegal giant trolley. Hundreds of students going to schools and madrasas are traveling on that road.”

Auto driver Md Hafez Uddin said, “If a passenger-laden auto-bike falls into a pothole, it is dangerous. If it is repaired quickly, the problem can be solved in a short time. Otherwise, the suffering will increase further.’

LGED Sub-Assistant Engineer Abul Hossain said, “The security money for the contractor who repaired it has not yet been released. Initiatives have been taken to repair the broken parts again.”
