Farmer killed in Kishoreganj lightning strike

A farmer was killed and two women, including his wife, were injured after a lightning strike hit a paddy drying yard in Austagram upazila of the district this afternoon. The deceased was identified as Mahabbat Kha, 36, son of Jamrut Kha and a resident of Bahadurpur village under Kastul union of the upazila. According to locals, the incident occurred around 2:30 pm while Mahabbat was working at a paddy yard in front of his house.

Mahabbat’s wife, Ruma Begum, 36, sustained burn injuries to her right hand in the incident. Another woman, Marzina, 50,suffered burns to both legs. The injured were rescued and admitted to Austagram Upazila Health Complex. Officer-in-Charge of Austagram Police Station Md. Rokonuzzaman confirmed the incident.
