Foundation stone of July Memorial Pillar to be laid & discussion meets to be held at DU on Wednesday

In order to preserve the memory of the July Uprising at Dhaka University, the foundation stone of the 'July Memorial Pillar' will be laid at the university's mall on Wednesday, August 5, 2026 at 10:30 am. Later, a discussion meeting will be held at the Student-Teacher Center (TSC) auditorium at 11:00 am.

 Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. ABM Obaidul Islam will be present as the chief guest at both the events. On this occasion and to inform about the month-long programs implemented at Dhaka University to commemorate the July Uprising, a press conference was organized at Professor Abdul Matin Chowdhury Virtual Classroom today, Tuesday, August 4, 2026.

 Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr ABM Obaidul Islam delivered a speech highlighting the purpose, significance and various aspects of the programs undertaken. Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Professor Dr Abdus Salam, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr Mohammad Almojaddidi Alfesani, Treasurer Professor Dr. M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Deans of various faculties, teachers and heads of various departments of the university were present.
