GCC Administrator inspects road & tree plantation program
The Gazipur City Corporation has undertaken the much-awaited overpass construction project from Shibbari Mor (BRTA Station) to Rathkhola Math in order to permanently resolve the long-standing severe traffic congestion and public suffering in the Joydevpur Rail Crossing area of Gazipur metropolis.
The tender for this project, which is of great public importance at a cost of about 317 crore taka, will be invited on August 7, 2026. Once the project is implemented, the traffic congestion in the Joydevpur Rail Crossing area will be significantly reduced and the city residents will be able to enjoy a safe, modern and seamless communication system, said Gazipur City Corporation Administrator Shawkat Hossain Sarkar.
On Monday morning, Administrator Shawkat Hossain Sarkar made an on-site inspection of various ongoing development activities of Gazipur City Corporation to ensure the overall development and infrastructural progress of the city's communication system. During this time, he inspected the progress of the development work of the 60-foot wide important road under construction from Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital to Pubail Koler Bazar.
During the inspection, he gave necessary and strict directions to the concerned officials to maintain the proper quality of the work and successfully complete the project within the stipulated time. Gazipur City Corporation's Superintendent Engineer Lehaz Uddin, Executive Engineer Shamsur Rahman, senior officers and engineers of the City Corporation and leaders and activists of local BNP and affiliated organizations were present.
On the same morning, free saplings were distributed among the students of Chhota Deora Government Primary School and Chhota Deora Agrani High School. This initiative has been taken to protect the balance of the environment, increase urban greening and create awareness among young students about the need and importance of tree plantation from an early age.
In addition to developmental activities and infrastructural progress, such public welfare and environment-friendly initiatives of the City Corporation, keeping in mind the determination to preserve the environment and build a livable and green Gazipur for future generations, have been widely appreciated by the local civil society and the education world. In particular, the Prime Minister and the Administrator are being widely appreciated by the city residents for quickly taking the initiative to build an overpass, which is much desired by the city residents, to resolve the long-standing severe traffic congestion at the Joydevpur rail crossing.
