Hundreds of drug dealers fled after seeing The mobile court in Char Fashion
More than two hundred drug dealers closed their shops and fled after receiving news of the operation of the mobile court on Char Fashion Hospital Road. During this time, a fine of Tk 20,000 was imposed on two pharmacies for various irregularities.
The mobile court was conducted on Char Fashion Hospital Road on Wednesday. The operation was conducted by Char Fashion Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Emadul Hossain.
During the operation, two businessmen, Rubel (40) and Yusuf (30), who did not have a pharmacy signboard under Sections 40(b), 40(c) and 40(d) of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 2023, were fined Tk 10,000 each and sentenced to 1 year in prison in default.
According to the sources of the operation, evidence of keeping physician samples and selling unauthorized drugs was found in the two pharmacies.
At the same time, the issue of no signboard of the shop, expired license and not properly maintaining the register of drug sales was also detected.
Meanwhile, when the news of the operation of the mobile court spread, more than a hundred drug dealers in the vicinity including Char Fashion Sadar Road and Hospital Road closed their shops and quickly left.
As a result, many drug stores were found closed during the operation.
Executive Magistrate Emadul Hossain said that the law and the prescribed rules must be followed properly in the sale of drugs. Such operations will continue taking into account the issue of public health.
