Illegal structures evicted from highway in B’baria
A joint mobile court of the district and the upazila administration, Roads and Highways Department (RHD), army and police demolished 50 illegal structures at the Sarail Bishwa Road intersection along the Dhaka-Sylhet highway in the district on Tuesday afternoon to ease traffic congestion in order to facilitate the Eid journey.
The RHD sources said, “Illegal structures are constantly causing traffic congestion at the Sarail Bishwa Road intersection of the Dhaka-Sylhet highway. As a result, a joint force operation demolished 20 permanent and 30 temporary shops. In addition, the potholes created on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway due to the ongoing Ashuganj-Akhaura four-lane highway project are being repaired. All the structures illegally built on the highway will be demolished in phases.”
Sarail Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mosharraf Hossain, Ashuganj-Akhaura Four-Lane Highway Project Manager Shamim Ahmed, and Army Captain Mahim Mejbah were present during the operation.
