Man killed in wild elephant attack in Jamalpur
An elderly man was killed in an attack by a wild elephant in Bakshiganj Upazila of the district today. The victim was identified as Joynal Abedin, 65, son of the late Ramij Mia at Mirdha Para village in Bakshiganj Upazila of the district.
Police quoting the victim's family said Joynal Abedin went to forest in Garo hill area in Dhanua Kamalpur union on Friday morning to collect fire wood. As he didn't return home his family members went to search for him and found his body lying at Somnath Para village today. Acting Chairman of Dhanua Kamalpur union Parishad, Golap Jamal said Indian wild elephants crushed him to dead.
Officer-in-charge of Bakshiganj police station, Makbul Hossain said Joynal Abedin might have been killed by wild elephant as footprints of elephants were found near his body. He said the body was recovered and handed over to his family members.
