National Citizen Party (NCP) Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwary has transferred his voter registration from Uttara to the Dhaka-8 constituency under Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC).

Dhaka-8 comprises Shahbagh, Motijheel, Ramna, Kakrail, Shajahanpur, and parts of Moghbazar.

NCP Joint Convener Sarwar Tusher confirmed the development on Monday afternoon.

Patwary was previously registered as a voter in Uttara under Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC). His registration has now been transferred following an application submitted to the Election Commission through Form 13.

The commission approved the transfer after verifying the application and relevant documents.

A senior NCP leader said Patwary is likely to be the party’s mayoral candidate for DSCC.

In February, NCP spokesperson Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain was selected as the party’s potential candidate for DSCC, while Senior Joint Convener Ariful Islam Adeeb was selected for DNCC.

The NCP leader said the matter would be discussed at the party’s upcoming meetings.

Patwary contested the February 12 national election from Dhaka-8 as an NCP candidate, securing 54,127 votes. BNP candidate Mirza Abbas won the seat with 59,366 votes. Patwary later sought a recount, alleging irregularities in the election.
