One held with 40,000 yaba pills in Cumilla
Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested a man along with 40,000 yaba tablets during an anti-drug drive in Cumilla border area early today. The arrested was identified as Md Abu Sayeed, 24, a resident of South Surjanagar village under Sadar South upazila in the district. Commanding Officer of Cumilla Battalion (10 BGB) Lieutenant Colonel Mir Ali Ejaz confirmed the matter this afternoon.
According to BGB sources, a patrol team from Lakshmipur Border Outpost (BOP) conducted the drive in Durlavpur area, about four kilometres inside Bangladesh territory from the border zero line. During the operation, the team detained the accused and recovered 40,000 pieces of yaba tablets from his possession. BGB officials said legal action has been initiated against the detainee under the Narcotics Control Act. Later, the seized contraband and the arrested person were handed over to Sadar South Model Police Station after completion of necessary formalities.
