One killed in Mirzapur road mishap
A man was killed after a covered van hit a parked truck near the Bawar Kumarjani Ma CNG pump on the Mirzapur bypass of the Dhaka-Tangail highway in Mirzapur Upazila of the district early Sunday.
The deceased Sujan Khan, 48, was the son of Yunus Khan of Jirail Village in Bakerganj Upazila of Barishal District. He was a covered van driver.
Police and locals said that when a covered van leaving Dhaka reached that place on the highway at 3:15 am, it hit the back of a truck standing in the Tangail-bound lane. As a result, the front part of the covered van was twisted and the driver died on the spot. Later, the police recovered the body after receiving information.
Gorai Highway Police Station Sub-Inspector Anisur Rahman said the body of the deceased has been recovered from the scene and sent to Mirzapur Kumudini Hospital morgue for an autopsy. The body will be handed over to his family after completing the legal process.
