Abul Kalam Azad Sweet, newly appointed chairman of the Rajshahi Development Authority (RDA), has expressed his firm determination to build Rajshahi as a beautiful, livable and completely corruption-free city. He made the remarks while answering journalists' questions after formally assuming office at 11 am today. He said that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has entrusted him with this important responsibility with great hope and confidence. 

He placed special emphasis on making the city fully livable for its citizens. Outlining his main goals, he said Rajshahi will be shaped in such a way that the people of this city can live in comfort and breathe freely. The new chairman expressed his determination to ensure that people can get services very easily and find joy in participating in development work. 

Announcing a 'zero tolerance' policy against corruption, he said all forms of corruption will be uprooted from society and the institution. He called on the general public and journalists to submit specific complaints about who committed what kind of irregularities or corruption in the past. Earlier, Abul Kalam Azad Sweet officially assumed his duties by signing the documents. Later, he planted a tree sapling on the RDA office premises.
