Road blockade demands UP chairman’s removal

Locals have blocked the Barishal-Patuakhali Highway and formed a human chain in Dapadpia Zero Point area of Nalchity Upazila of the district on Sunday morning to demand the removal of Dapadpia UP Chairman Babul Mridha alleging various irregularities and corruption against him.

Dapadpia Union BNP President Nazmul Ahsan Nantu Mallick, General Secretary Sohel Sikder, Sramik Dal President Nantu Durani and General Secretary Yunus Hawlader spoke in the human chain.

The speakers alleged, “The UP chairman has been involved in various irregularities and corruption for a long time. If the concerned authorities do not take immediate action, we will warn of more stringent agitation in the future.”

Meanwhile, passengers and pedestrians suffered due to the long road blockade. Many expressed anger at not being able to reach their destinations on time and demanded that the situation be normalized quickly.
