A new committee of Shibchar Press Club for one year has been formed. In this connection, an election has been held at the temporary office of the Press Club on the first floor of the Shibchar Muktijoddha Complex on Friday afternoon.

In this election, SA TV’s Madaripur District Representative Zakir Hossain has been elected as the president and Sangbad Diganta’s Mohiuddin Khan has been elected as the general secretary. In addition, The Daily Tribunal’s Correspondent Alim Sikder Hridoy has been elected as the organizing secretary.

Besides, Daily Eai Bangla’s Correspondent Saiduzzaman Nasim has been elected as the senior vice-president, Rupali Bangladesh’s Correspondent Bazlur Rahman and Amar Desh Pratidin’s Correspondent Alamgir Hossain have been elected as the vice-presidents, Daily Jugantor’s Correspondent and Ekattor TV’s Representative Rabiul Hasan has been elected as the joint general secretary, Daily Sangram’s Correspondent Abu Raihan and Amader Kantha’s Correspondent Robin Chowdhury have been elected as the joint general secretaries, Ajker Prottasha’s Correspondent Nasir Uddin and Muslim Times’ Correspondent Tarek Hossain have been as the elected as the co-organizing secretaries, Bangladesh Shomachar’s Correspondent Md Masudur Rahman has been elected as the publicity and publication secretary, and Javed Mahmud Jewel of Rajdhani TV was elected as the office secretary.

The newly elected General Secretary Mohiuddin Khan said, “I will work for the rights, dignity and professional development of journalists. I will always be by your side.”

Organizing Secretary Alim Shikder said, “Journalism is now facing the threat of extinction. If educated youth do not enter this great profession now, then society will be corrupted and one of the most important institutions of the state will collapse.”

Press Club President Zakir Hossain said, “We all want to transform Shibchar Press Club into a creative, united and professional organization.”
