Police have found the hanging body of a student named Diamani Anti (17), who failed in the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) exam-2026, in Nakla, Sherpur. Everyone believes that she may have committed suicide by hanging herself by tying a veil around her neck due to mental anguish over failing in the exam. The incident took place on Monday night in Charbachuralgi village of Chandrakona Union of the upazila.

The deceased Diamani is the daughter of local farmer Dulal Mia. She had appeared in the 2026 SSC exam from Chandrakona Girls High School. Diamani is the youngest of Dulal Mia's 3 daughters. Diamani failed in the SSC exam results released on Monday. Everyone believes that she had a mental breakdown and chose the path of suicide. However, no specific information or evidence has been found that she committed suicide only because of failing in the exam.

According to the family sources of the deceased, Diamani went to sleep with her elder sister Shampa on Monday night. When Shampa fell asleep, Diamani hung herself by hanging herself in the balcony room next to the bedroom. After 4 am, Shampa woke up and when she did not find Diamani in the bed, she went to the balcony room next to the bedroom and started screaming. The family members rushed to the spot when the matter was reported to the Chandrakona Police Investigation Center. The police recovered Diamani's body from the scene and prepared a morgue.

Nakla Police Station OC Ripon Chandra Gop said that Diamani may have committed suicide by hanging herself between 2 am and 4 am on Monday. A case of unnatural death has been filed at Nakla Police Station in this regard. Following a written application by the deceased's family, the body was handed over to the family without an autopsy on the instructions of the higher authorities.
