Taraganj WE College ex-principal accused of theft

It has been alleged that the Taraganj Waqf Estate Government College former principal Md Abdul Bari Mandal stole important documents including income and expenditure vouchers of his tenure (for the past few financial years) in broad daylight. It is known that he committed this incident at 11 am on June 12, 2025, in the presence and cooperation of the institution’s office assistant cum-computer operator Md Menhajul.
In this incident, the office assistant Menhajul said, “I went to the office at 10 am on June 12 to register the admit cards of the HSC examinees of the 2025 academic year. While doing official work in the office, former principal Abdul Bari Mandal came to the office at 11 am. He took several official documents from a sealed cupboard that he had previously kept in the office room.”
But from the day of the incident to June 17, the Acting Principal, Md Abdus Sobur, was not informed about this and the principal did not take legal action despite knowing it late. Many claim that the incident of taking away office documents in this way by the former principal Abdul Bari Mandal, who retired in 2023, without the permission of the current principal while the institution was closed, is a conspiracy. They also claim that the former principal was involved in various irregularities and corruption during the fascist Awami League government.
Meanwhile, the conscious sections of society are worried and concerned about the incident of documents being stolen from the office of a government educational institution by opening cupboards in broad daylight. In this incident, the conscious circles demand that necessary measures be taken immediately, subject to an investigation into the overall affairs of the college.
Incidentally, former principal Md Abdul Bari Mandal admitted on his mobile phone that he had taken away office documents without informing the current principal. However, in the interest of audit work, he took the bill voucher papers of various financial sectors including the examination sector of his time at the college in the cupboard that he had left with his own seal.
The Principal of the college Md Abdus Sobur said on his mobile phone, “The college was closed for Eid holidays until June 14. I came to know about the incident on June 17. I was not told, I heard it in the office discussion. Later, I gave importance to the matter, informed the higher authorities and gave show-cause to the office assistant in this incident.” At that time, he claimed that the office assistant was accused as an accomplice in this strategic theft. Regarding the filing of no complaint with the police station in this incident, he said, “I went to the police station but they did not accept my complaint.”
In this connection, Taraganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge MA Faruk said, “I have come to know about the theft. However, I have not received any complaint in this connection. Legal action will be taken if I receive a complaint.”
In this connection, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Rubel Rana said, “I have heard about the incident at the college. I have asked the principal of the institution, higher authorities and the local administration to inform me in writing about this. I have not received any written complaint yet. I will inform my higher authorities about the matter.”
