Thakurgaon-1 Parliamentary Seat Declared Vacant After Fakhrul Becomes President
The Thakurgaon-1 parliamentary seat has fallen vacant following Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir’s assumption of office as the President of Bangladesh.
As per Article 50(4) of the Constitution, his parliamentary seat in Thakurgaon-1 became vacant upon his assumption of office of President of Bangladesh, according to a Gazette notification issued by the Bangladesh Parliament Secretariat here today.
Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir assumed office as the 23rd President of Bangladesh at 7:30 pm on August 21, 2026. Earlier, he was elected President in the presidential election held on August 20 at Jatiya Sangsad.
