Three motorcyclists killed in Dinajpur road accident
Three motorcycle riders were killed in a road accident on the Dinajpur-Gobindaganj highway in Ghoraghat upazila of the district this morning. Police said the accident occurred around 11:00 am in front of Raniganj Bazar Central Jame Mosque when a goods-laden truck hit a motorcycle while it was entering the highway, leaving one rider dead on the spot and two others seriously injured. Locals rescued the injured and rushed them to Ghoraghat Upazila Health Complex, where they succumbed to their injuries around 1:00 pm while undergoing treatment.
The deceased were identified as Alamin, 15, son of Mosharaf Hossain of Nurpur village; Saikat Ahmed, 16, son of Salim Uddin of Mogolispur village; and Abul Kaiyum, 20, son of Shosmesh Uddin of the same area under Ghoraghat upazila. Officer-in-Charge of Ghoraghat Police Station Md. Shahidul Islam confirmed the incident and said truck helper Sabbir Hossain Shawan, 26, son of Sajidul Islam of SK Bazar village in Ghoraghat upazila, has been detained, while the truck driver fled the scene after the accident. Legal proceedings are underway in this connection.
