Tree plantation programme launched in Pirojpur
A tree plantation programme was inaugurated in the district today as part of the nationwide initiative to plant 250 million trees over the next five years, in line with the election manifesto announced by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. The programme was formally inaugurated by Pirojpur Deputy Commissioner Abu Sayeed as the chief guest at the Deputy Commissioner's Office campus this afternoon.
Among those present as special guests were Administrator of the District Council Principal Alamgir Hossain, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Alauddin Bhuiyan Jony, Additional District Magistrate Tanzila Kabir Tropa, Joint Director of the National Security Intelligence (NSI) Md. Mizanur Rahman, and Acting Divisional Forest Officer Sheikh Yakub Ali.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Commissioner Abu Sayeed said that various species of forest, fruit-bearing, and medicinal trees would be planted across different areas of the district. During the programme, more than one hundred forest, fruit-bearing, and medicinal saplings were planted on the Deputy Commissioner's Office premises and its surrounding areas.
