Ukraine Sends More Forces East to Counter Russian Gains, Says Zelensky

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Friday that his army was deploying reinforcements to eastern Ukraine where Russian troops have made rapid advances towards the mining hub of Dobropillia. "Today, a decision was made to further reinforce this and other areas in the Donetsk region," Zelensky said in a statement on social media, hours ahead of summit between the US and Russian presidents on the war. "The Russian army continues to suffer significant losses in its attempts to secure more favourable political positions for the Russian leadership at the meeting in Alaska," he added.
