A team led by US President's Special Envoy for South and Central Asia, Ambassador Sergio Gore, visited the Rohingya camps.

The delegation arrived in Cox's Bazar on Friday at 12 noon. After 2 pm, they went to Kutupalong Rohingya Camp No. 4 in Ukhiya. Later, the delegation visited the food assistance activities run by the United Nations World Food Program (WFP), the extended part of Camp No. 4, Camp No. 8W and Camp No. 6. Later, they visited the hospital run by the Red Crescent. In the afternoon, the team led by Sergio Gore visited the UNHCR-run registration center.

During the visit, the US Special Envoy observed various humanitarian assistance activities being conducted by the US.

During the visit, US Special Envoy Sergio Gore also spoke with officials from the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and officials from the Rohingya Refugee Relief and Repatriation Office of the Bangladesh government.

During the visit, the delegation also spoke with several leaders of the Rohingya community and listened to their current crisis and needs.

The US Embassy said that the Special Envoy's visit will further strengthen the Bangladesh-US strategic relationship, regional security, and the US commitment to a sustainable solution to the Rohingya crisis.
