12 shops gutted in late-night fire in Sunamganj
A devastating fire broke out late Sunday night in the Alfat Square area of the district town, leaving at least 12 shops completely gutted. The fire erupted around 11:00 pm. After nearly an hour of operation, the fire was brought under control at approximately 12:21 am.
Sunamganj Fire Service Station Officer Md. Jalal Ahmed confirmed that a total of five units worked to extinguish the blaze. Members of the police, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), and other emergency services also assisted in controlling the situation. Deputy Commissioner Dr. Mohammad Ilias Mia visited the area to assess the damage and oversee the response efforts. The cause of the fire and the total extent of the damage are yet to be determined.
