A total of 20 absconding accused have been arrested in separate raids in connection with the murder case of RAB member DAD Abdul Motaleb in Jangal Salimpur, in the city. 

RAB-7 Chattogram has apprehended 13 of the accused, while District Police has captured the remaining 7. In a press release issued on Saturday (March 28), RAB-7 Assistant Director (Media) ARM Mozaffar Hossain stated that on March 27, a joint operation team of RAB-7 and RAB-11 Narayananj conducted a raid in the Nabagram area under Kabirhat police station in Noakhali. They successfully arrested accused number 29, Md. Parvez (35), from Udalia area under Pahartali police station.  

On the other hand accused Md. Shahidul Islam (32) was arrested. Finally, on January 30, accused Md. Shahidul Islam (32) was arrested from the Sholoshahar Gate No. 2 area under Panchlaish Police Station. 

The arrests were made as part of a crackdown on a criminal gang involved in various illegal activities in the Chattogram area. The police have been working diligently to apprehend all members of the gang and bring them to justice. The cooperation between different law enforcement agencies has been instrumental in the successful apprehension of the accused individuals.  

On January 29, Md. Shafiqul Islam, also known as Prakash Master Shafiqul Islam (51), was killed in an ambush in the Bishwa Colony area under Akbar shah Police Station. The incident occurred during an operation to apprehend armed terrorists in the  Jungle Salimpur area on January 19, where miscreants attacked RAB members, resulting in injuries to four members. The injured were rescued and taken to Chattogram CMCH for treatment, where DAD Abdul Motaleb succumbed to his injuries. 

RAB-7 Chattogram filed a case with Sitakunda Police Station on January 22, naming 29 individuals for culpable homicide and 150-200 others as unknown accused. Subsequent operations led to the arrest of 20 suspects, who were handed over to the relevant police station. RAB-7 Assistant Director (Media) ARM Mozaffar Hossain provided this information.
