496 women receive family cards in Bogura
The Family Card distribution programme was formally inaugurated in Bogura today as part of a government initiative aimed at supporting marginalized families. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman inaugurated the programme from the capital, Dhaka, at 10:00 am today. Following the national launch, Bogura Deputy Commissioner Taufiqur Rahman distributed the Family Cards among beneficiaries around 11:30 am at Gopal Bari in Sakharia union under Sadar upazila.
In the initial phase, 496 women received Family Cards along with financial assistance of Taka 2,500 each. According to the district administration, a total of 868 beneficiaries will eventually be brought under the programme, with the remaining recipients scheduled to receive the cards in phases. Most of the beneficiary women expressed happiness after receiving the cards. They said the financial assistance would play a significant role in supporting their families. Several beneficiaries also conveyed gratitude to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, expressing hope that such welfare initiatives would continue in the future.
Some beneficiaries mentioned that the funds had already been transferred to their mobile phones before they received the cards, allowing them to use the money immediately for family needs. While handing over the cards, Deputy Commissioner Taufiqur Rahman said the initiative was designed to support marginalized women and strengthen family welfare. He added that the funds had already been transferred to beneficiaries earlier in the morning, making the programme effective from the very first day.
Among others present at the inauguration ceremony were Central BNP member Ali Azgar Talukder Hena, Additional Deputy Commissioner Mejbaul Karim, Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Abdul Wazed, District BNP Organising Secretary Shahid-un Nabi Salam, Sadar Upazila BNP President Maftun Ahmed Khan Rubel, and other local leaders and officials.
