Theatre troupe Jagoroni Theatre staged the 51st and 52nd performances of its 15th production “Rajar Chithi” at the Experimental Hall of the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on Friday, drawing an enthusiastic audience after a long time. Written by Mahfuza Hilali and directed by Debashish Ghosh, the play was performed twice in a single evening—at 5:15 PM and 7:30 PM on 4th April, 2026. The noticeable turnout reflected the audience’s continued interest and appreciation for the production.

Soron Saha, General Secretary of Jagoroni Theatre, expressed his delight over the strong audience response. “It is always the audience who inspire us to continue staging this play. The response we received during the 51st and 52nd shows has been overwhelming. We hope to reach the milestone of 100 performances, though the rest is in God’s hands,” he said. He also extended gratitude to the entire team for their dedication and hard work. The cast featured Soron Saha, Aniket Pal, Shahana Jahan Siddika, Shahanaz Sharmin Khan Shimu, Juliet Supriya, Md. Rafiqul Islam Rony, Sazib Chand, Shreya Saha Swarna, Shraban Sutradhar, Athoi Das, Rakibul Islam Rahat, Asheya Akter Maria, and Rafiqul Hasan Rizwan.

The production team included choreography by Aniket Pal Babu, music by Romij Raju, lighting by Thandu Raihan, costume design by Enam Tara Saki, poster and souvenir design by Shoaib Hasnat Mitul, management and coordination by Azim Uddin, and sound by Iman Hossain. The play is inspired by a real Story from 1939, when Haridas Basak of Shahzadpur, Sirajganj, wrote a letter to Rabindranath Tagore and received a reply from the Nobel laureate. Influenced by Tagore’s writings and correspondence, Basak’s life gradually reflected the qualities of Tagore’s “Thakurda” character. This narrative forms the basis of “Rajar Chithi.”
