Badhan’s fortune changes with shopping bag business in Rajshahi

Golam Mawla Badhan, son of Azizul Haque, a resident of Gopalpur village under Charghat municipality in Rajshahi, established the Oikko Bag Industries shopping bag factory on his own initiative after learning bag-making techniques from YouTube during his free time in the COVID-19 period. On the one hand, the factory is contributing to the local economy, while on the other it is creating employment opportunities for many people.

During a visit to the factory yesterday afternoon, it was seen that with Eid approaching, the demand for bags in the market has increased several times. As a result, local craftsmen are working day and night to deliver orders on time. These bags are supplied not only to the local markets of Charghat but also to Bagha, Lalpur, Natore and other parts of the country.

Talking with local workers revealed that the workload of making bags has increased over the past few weeks ahead of Eid. Craftsmen are working from morning until late at night to ensure timely delivery of orders. Their income has also increased, helping them meet their Eid expenses. They said business during the Eid season is much better compared to other times of the year. Many craftsmen support their families and make their Eid preparations with the income earned during this period.

Speaking about the matter, Golam Mawla Badhan, owner of Oikko Bag Industries, said that during the COVID period he began learning bag-making by watching YouTube on his mobile phone. Later, he started the business on a small scale with a few employees and gradually expanded it step by step. Currently, both male and female workers are employed at the factory making bags. However, due to the upcoming Eid festival, the workload of the workers has increased. Badhan said he hopes to expand the business on a larger scale in the future.
