Theatre troupe Hunt Inc will stage the 12th and 13th shows of its theatre production “Café de Volte” at Jatra Biroti in Banani on Friday, September 18. The production will have two performances, at 6 pm and 8 pm.

Based on a concept by Diana Meriline Chowdhury, who also directs the production, Café de Volte features a script by Abid Hasan.

The play follows Max D’Rozario, a Bengali Christian chef who opens a restaurant called “Café de Volte” in the fictional town of Kalikotha. At the restaurant’s opening, Max takes control of the fates of four respected citizens.

Rather than seeking conventional revenge or justice, Max is driven by what the production describes as a personal crusade. The play uses his actions to turn the question of judgment back on the audience, examining the idea of an internal “wandering court” where people decide who deserves punishment.

The cast includes Shahzada Somrat Chowdhury, Saim Bin Mujib, Priom Majumder, Yead Khorshid Eashan, Maliha Fairuz Farin Melisa, Noor E Jannat Orisha, Shahin Saidur, Supriyo Ghosh, Shuvashis Halder, Supti Das Chaity and Neon Ahsan.

Mukhlesur Rahman has designed the lighting, while Chirls Chowdhury is responsible for the sound and music. Sarah Jabin Aditi is handling makeup and styling, Jerome Modhu is the production manager, and Monzurul Hasan Swopnil is responsible for the digital archive.

The production premiered in 2026 as Hunt Inc’s debut theatre production and has since received multiple stagings. The organisers have advised audiences not to bring children to the performances.
