The first day of Bangla New Year 1433 was celebrated in Rajshahi today through vibrant 'Baishakhi Shobhajatra' and various cultural programmes, with the theme 'Noboborsher Oikyatan, Gonotantrer Punruthhan'. The celebrations were organised by the Rajshahi district administration in a festive atmosphere. A colourful Baishakhi Shobhajatra set off at 7 am from in front of Rajshahi Central Park and Zoo, parading through the city's main streets before concluding at the premises of the Shishu Academy.

People from all walks of life joined the procession wearing festive traditional attire. The procession was decorated with banners, festoons and symbols of Bengali heritage, creating a lively and celebratory mood across the city. Land Minister Mizanur Rahman Minu, attended the programme as the chief guest. Rajshahi City Corporation Administrator Mahfuzur Rahman Riton, Divisional Commissioner Dr A N M Bazlur Rashid and Deputy Commissioner Kazi Shahidul Islam were present as special guests. 

At the end of the procession, the guests inaugurated a two-day Baishakhi fair at the Shishu Academy premises by releasing balloons. A cultural programme followed, featuring performances of New Year songs, dances, and recitations by local artists. The celebrations spread the spirit of harmony, cultural unity, and Bengali tradition among people of all ages in Rajshahi. Meanwhile, a separate Baishakhi Shobhajatra was organised by the Paba upazila administration at the upazila parishad premises.

Under the same theme, people of all ages joined the procession in colourful festive attire. The rally began at the upazila parishad premises, circled nearby roads, and returned to the starting point. Md Shafiqul Haque Milon, MP, attended the programme as the chief guest.  A cultural programme and discussion session were held afterwards at the upazila parishad conference room, where local artists presented songs, dances and recitations. The events concluded with a festive atmosphere, spreading the message of New Year joy, harmony and Bengali cultural spirit among people of all levels in Paba upazila.
