Amid initial deadlock over the agenda at the Bonn Climate Conference, the COP29 Presidency was invited to assist Parties in reaching a consensus.
On behalf of the Presidency, COP29 Chief Negotiator Yalchin Rafiyev conducted extensive consultations to bridge differences on complex issues, ultimately securing agreement on the SB62 agenda.
With the agenda now finalized, negotiators and delegations can commence work in Bonn, advancing key mandates for the year, including the cross-Presidency initiatives led jointly by COP29 and COP30.
Reflecting on the breakthrough, COP29 Lead Negotiator stated, “We thank the Parties for their constructive engagement and flexibility in finding a path forward. We now look ahead to implementing the Baku-to-Belém roadmap and advancing the next generation of NDCs.”
