Doly Sayontoni Recreates Classic Song from ‘Dui Jibon’ After 38 Years
Popular Bangladeshi singer Doly Sayontoni has re-recorded the iconic song “Ami Ekdin Tomay Na Dekhile” from the 1988’s film “Dui Jibon”, bringing a fresh rendition to a timeless classic after nearly four decades. The film “Dui Jibon”, directed by the late renowned actor and filmmaker Abdullah Al Mamun, was released on June 10, 1988. It starred Bulbul Ahmed, Kobori, Nipa Monalisa, Afzal Hossain, Adil, and Diti. The movie remains widely celebrated for its memorable soundtrack, including songs like “Abar Dujone Dekha Holo,” “Ami Ekdin Tomay Na Dekhile,” “Tumi Chhara Ami Eka,” and “Tumi Aaj Kotha Diyecho.”
Originally written by Moniruzzaman Monir and composed by Alam Khan, “Ami Ekdin Tomay Na Dekhile” was performed by legendary singers Runa Laila and the late playback king Andrew Kishore. In the film, the song was lip-synced by Afzal Hossain and Diti. Doly Sayontoni, who has long admired the song, has now released her own version on her official YouTube channel. The new rendition features a fresh musical arrangement by Shamim Mahmud and includes a duet performance with Ruslan Mezbah.
Speaking about the project, Doly Sayontoni said, “This song, originally sung by respected Runa Laila Apa and Andrew Kishore Dada, is very close to my heart. It remains popular across Bangladesh even today. I covered it out of deep admiration and it has now been released on my channel. I hope listeners will enjoy this new interpretation of a beloved classic.”
In addition to the cover, the singer has also released a new original track titled “Moira Jodi Jaigo Ami” on her channel. The song is written, composed, and musically arranged by Rohan Raj, and its music video was filmed abroad. Regarding the new song, she added, “I really liked the lyrics and composition, which inspired me to sing it. I am already seeing a positive response from listeners. Thanks to Rohan Raj.” Doly Sayontoni also mentioned that more new songs will be released on her channel in the future.
