Four held in Jashore over online fraud and fake ID card production

Members of Special Response Battalion (SRB-6) arrested four alleged members of a fraud gang during a raid in the Shasthitala area under Kotwali Model Police Station in Jashore.

The SRB-6 team conducted the raid at a flat on the third floor of a building owned by Md Ripon Hossain in the area, acting on a tip-off, said an SRB press release last night.

The arrestees were identified as Al Musabbir Riyad, 23, Md Rasel Hossain, 27, Fahim Sadik, 22, and Md Siyam Ali, 22.

During the raid, the team seized three laptops, five computer monitors, 17 Android mobile phones, four computer CPUs, four keyboards, four computer mice, an ID card printer, a colour printer, a fake foreign driving licence card, a power bank and a webcam, among other devices.

According to the press release, the suspects had allegedly been using the devices to produce fake ID cards illegally and carry out online fraud.

The arrestees were later handed over to Jashore Kotwali Police Station after a case was filed against them, it added.
