A day-long free eye care camp has been held in Rampal Upazila of the district, providing essential eye treatment to thousands. The camp was organized on Friday at Perikhali Model High School premises at the initiative of Sheikh Faridul Islam, State Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change and Member of Parliament from Bagerhat-3 constituency.

Held under the slogan "Prevent blindness, restore vision, bring smiles to life," the program offered free eye examinations, medical consultations and necessary medicines to around 5,000 underprivileged and general patients. A team of specialist doctors provided on-site treatment, while patients with complex conditions were advised to seek advanced care.

Addressing the event as the chief guest, Sheikh Faridul Islam said that eyesight is a precious asset in the human life and noted that many people are deprived of timely treatment due to lack of awareness. He said such initiatives will help to bring healthcare services closer to the people. The state minister further added that the government is working to ensure healthcare services reach the people's doorsteps and will continue such programs in the future. Local residents welcomed the initiative and expressed their gratitude to the organizers and State Minister Sheikh Faridul Islam.
