Garbage Pile in Front of Raw Market Adjacent to Diabari, Mirpur – Severe Public Suffering

Residents and pedestrians in the Diabari area of Mirpur are experiencing severe suffering due to a large pile of garbage that has been accumulating for days in front of the local raw market. Rotten vegetables, fruits, and other waste dumped alongside the main road are obstructing vehicle movement and making it difficult for people to walk due to the unbearable stench.
As seen in the image, a large portion of the roadside is covered with market waste. Due to poor waste management, the garbage is spreading onto the road, creating obstacles for both vehicles and rickshaws. Locals complain that they are forced to endure the foul smell and associated health hazards from morning till night.
A local resident said, "Thousands of people use this road every day. But garbage is dumped here in such a way that it seems no one is concerned. The City Corporation is taking no initiative." Shopkeepers stated that despite repeated complaints, the Dhaka North City Corporation has yet to take any effective action. During the monsoon season, the waste spreads further with the rainwater, posing serious threats to the environment and public health. Local residents are urgently calling on the authorities to immediately remove the garbage pile and ensure regular cleanliness efforts in the area.
