Important Decisions Taken to Control Battery-Powered Rickshaws on Main Roads

An important meeting was held with representatives of battery-powered rickshaws under the chairmanship of Mr. Yasina Ferdous, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic – Mirpur Division). The meeting was convened to inform and raise awareness among rickshaw drivers and owners regarding new regulations issued under the directive of the DMP Commissioner.

The following key decisions have been made to regulate the movement of battery-powered rickshaws:

Strict Prohibition on Main Roads: Entry of battery-powered rickshaws on main roads is strictly prohibited. If found violating this rule, the vehicle will be impounded for 3 months.

Use of Designated Routes and Crossings: Rickshaws must operate only on approved routes and use designated crossings.

Penalties for Unsafe Driving Practices: Legal action will be taken against any driver found:

Driving in the opposite direction,

Speeding recklessly,

Obstructing traffic flow.

These directives are mandatory for all battery-powered rickshaw drivers and owners and are aimed at ensuring road safety and smooth traffic movement.
