Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Administrator Nazrul Islam Manju today called for greater support from private organisations for climate-displaced families living in the city.

"Many climate-displaced families are struggling to meet their basic needs and livelihoods. KCC is making its utmost efforts to support them. Private organisations should also come forward," he said.

He was speaking at a programme for distributing water tanks and rainwater filters at the Caritas auditorium on Rupsha Strand Road.

Under its 'Stronger Together' project, Caritas distributed a 500-litre water tank, a filter and Tk 2,400 in cash to each of 24 beneficiaries from four city wards.

Meanwhile, a meeting chaired by Manju decided to form an eight-member committee to oversee rooftop solar power installation at KCC facilities.

KCC Chief Engineer Mashiuzzaman Khan was made convener of the committee, while Executive Engineer Sheikh Mohammad Madus Karim was made member secretary.

The meeting decided to initially install a rooftop solar system at Nagar Swasthya Bhaban on Sher-e-Bangla Road.
