The Khulna district administration has directed all LPG filling stations, dealers and retail outlets to prominently display government-approved LPG price lists and warned against selling cylinders above fixed rates. The directive came following allegations from different areas that many businesses were failing to display official price lists and were charging customers more than the rates set by the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC).

In a notice issued on Tuesday, the Business, Commerce and Investment Branch of the Khulna Deputy Commissioner's Office said such practices violate consumer rights and disrupt proper market management. The notice cited Section 38 of the Consumer Rights Protection Act, 2009, which makes failure to display product price lists in visible places a punishable offence.

To ensure transparency and protect consumers, authorities instructed businesses to display updated BERC-approved LPG price lists at the entrance of establishments and in places clearly visible to customers. The displayed lists must mention government-fixed prices according to the size and capacity of each LPG cylinder. Traders were also ordered not to charge prices beyond the approved rates under any circumstances.

The administration warned that legal action would be taken against violators under the Consumer Rights Protection Act and other relevant laws if complaints are received or irregularities are detected during market monitoring drives. Authorities concerned have been asked to implement the directives immediately and ensure strict compliance.
