Life-Term Fugitive Convict in Chattogram Held in Sunamganj
Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have arrested Abdus Salam, a 60-year old fugitive who is serving a life sentence for a robbery case filed at Rangunia Police Station, from Sunamganj district. Abdus Salam was initially arrested from the Kazir Point area under Sadar Police Station in Sunamganj on Monday, a RAB-7 press release confirmed today.
He is a member of the Union Parishad in south Rajanagar of Rangunia upazila and resides in the Rajabhuban area, with his father Nur Ahmed. RAB received secret information that Abdus Salam, a convict serving a life sentence under the Prevention of Terrorism Act, was hiding in the Sadar Police Station area of Sunamganj district. Acting on a tip-off, a team of the elite force conducted a raid on November 10 and successfully nabbed him. ARM Mozaffar Hossain, assistant director of RAB-7 Chattogram (Media), stated that Salam had been evading capture for a significant period. Following his apprehension, he was transferred to Rangunia Police Station for further legal proceedings, he added.
