Main accused of CKD hospital extortion case arrested in Narail
Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-6 have arrested the main accused in an extortion case filed over an incident at CKD Hospital in the capital’s Shyamoli area, says a RAB-6 press release this afternoon. A team of RAB-6, CPC-3, Jashore Camp conducted a drive early this morning in Dadantala area under Kalia Police Station of Narail district, acting on a tip-off, and arrested the prime accused, Md. Moin Uddin, 42, son of Md. Mofizur Rahman.
According to the case statement, Moin Uddin along with other accused had long been demanding Tk 5 lakh as extortion from the complainant. As part of the continued threats, on April 10, the accused went to the complainant’s residence in Shyamoli to collect the money. When the complainant refused to pay, they allegedly intimidated and threatened him and his family members.
Following the incident, Md. Abu Hanif, in-charge of the operation theatre at CKD Hospital, filed a case with Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station against Moin Uddin and 7/8 unidentified individuals. RAB officials said the arrested accused has been sent to Dhaka and will be handed over to Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station for further legal proceedings, the press release added.
