Minor drowns in Chapainawabganj

A two and half year old boy drowned in a canal at Alatuli union of Sadar upazila here this morning.

The deceased was identified as Abdur Rahman, son of Abdul Alam of Narendrapur village under Shahjahanpur union of Sadar upazila.

According to locals, Abdur Rahman came to his maternal grandparents' house in the area two days ago to visit them. This morning, he accidentally fell into a canal near the house around 9 am at Raninghar Bilkandi village

Family members later rescued him from the water and rushed him to the 250-bed Chapainawabganj District Hospital where the attending doctor declared him dead.

Officer-in-Charge of Chapainawabganj Sadar Model Police Station Ekramul Hossain confirmed the matter.
