Natore municipality launches Eid VGF rice distribution program
In celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr, the Natore Municipality has commenced its free Vulnerable Group Feeding (VGF) rice distribution program for 4,625 underprivileged families in the area. The program was officially inaugurated this morning by Md. Abul Hayat, acting deputy director of the Local Government Department and Administrator of Natore Municipality at the municipality premises at 9:00 am. Speaking at the event, Md. Abul Hayat emphasized the importance of the initiative, highlighting that monitoring activities have been set in place to ensure the smooth execution of the distribution process.
The distribution will be carried out in a ward-based manner and is scheduled to continue until March 16, 2026. Prior to the distribution, preparatory meetings will be held to finalize the list of beneficiaries. In addition, the District Relief and Rehabilitation Officer, AKM Shaha Alam Mollah, confirmed that the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief has allocated a total of 1,229.58 tons of rice across 52 union and eight municipality levels in seven upazilas of Natore district.
The distribution, which includes the free provision of 10 kg of rice to 122,958 families, is taking place in phases at the relevant union and municipality levels. This VGF rice distribution initiative is part of a broader effort to support vulnerable families during the festive season of Eid-ul-Fitr.
