Nine candidates lose deposits in Rajbari
A total of nine out of 13 candidates contesting in two parliamentary constituencies of Rajbari district have lost their security deposits in the 13th National Parliamentary election, according to sources at the District Election Commission Office. In Rajbari-1 constituency, two candidates out of four failed to secure the minimum required votes to retain their deposits. They are Jatiya Party's (Plough symbol) candidate Advocate Khandaker Habibur Rahman Bachchu and Zaker Party's (Rose symbol) candidate Mohammad Ali Biswas.
In Rajbari-2 constituency, seven out of nine candidates lost their deposits. The candidates are independent candidate Nasirul Haque Sabu, Islami Andolan Bangladesh's (Hand fan symbol) Md. Abdul Malek, Khelafat Majlish's (Wall clock symbol) Kazi Minhajul Alam, Gono Odhikar Parishad's (Truck symbol) Zahid Sheikh, Bangladesh Sangskritik Mukti Jote (Chari symbol) Md. Abdul Malek Mondal, Jatiya Party (Plough symbol) Shafiul Azam Khan and Football symbol candidate Md. Sohel Molla. Election officials said candidates are required to secure at least one-eighth of the total votes cast in their respective constituencies to retain their deposits, in accordance with election rules. The recently concluded 13th Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Election was held amid participation from multiple political parties across the country.
