A nutrition support programme under the Urban Poverty Reduction Project (UPRP) was inaugurated today, covering 31 wards across Khulna city, aiming to improve the nutritional status of underprivileged families. The programme was formally launched at the Ward No. 16 office of Khulna City Corporation (KCC). KCC Administrator Nazrul Islam Manju inaugurated the initiative as the chief guest. Addressing the function, he underscored the importance of proper nutrition for the healthy growth and development of children, saying there is no alternative to adequate nutrition.

He added that ensuring proper nutrition for every child is a crucial responsibility and that the project has been providing nutrition support to poor and disadvantaged families to achieve this goal. "Every child needs proper nutrition. Keeping this in mind, we are providing nutrition support to mothers so that children can grow up healthy," he said. Following the inauguration, nutrition items were distributed among beneficiaries.

Officials expressed hope that the initiative would bring positive changes in meeting the nutritional needs of the urban poor. Among others, KCC Chief Engineer Moshiuzzaman Khan and Planning Officer Abir-ul-Jabbar were present at the event.
