One killed, five injured in Jhenaidah road crash
A 50-year-old cyclist was killed and at least five others were injured in a road accident in Kaliganj upazila of the district today. The deceased was identified as Kawsar Ali, son of late Zafar Ali, a resident of Belat village of the upazila. The accident took place at noon when a Kushtia-bound bus of Rupsha Paribahan lost control and crashed into a roadside hotel in Barobazar Bus Stand area, according to Barobazar Highway Police.
During the incident, the cyclist came under the wheels of the bus and was killed on the spot. At least five other individuals were injured in the crash. Locals, along with police, rescued the injured and sent them to 250-bed General Hospital in Jashore. Two of the injured are in critical condition. Barobazar Highway Police In-charge Alamgir Kabir confirmed the matter. Legal proceedings in connection with the incident are currently underway.
