Showbiz Community Mourns Khaleda Zia’s Passing


The showbiz arena—the entire entertainment industry encompassing film, television, theatre, music and celebrity culture—has been plunged into mourning over the death of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, a three-time former Prime Minister and one of Bangladesh’s most uncompromising political leaders. Dhallywood megastar Shakib Khan wrote on Facebook: “I express deep sorrow at the demise of former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia. I pray for the eternal peace of her soul and offer my deepest condolences to the bereaved family.”

Expressing her profound shock and sorrow, actress Jaya Ahsan wrote on Facebook: “Begum Khaleda Zia passed away at a very difficult time. People are waiting for elections and the restoration of democracy. The value of her presence was immense.” She added: “Begum Zia was a central figure in the anti-military rule and pro-democracy movement, remarkable for her courage and leadership. With her passing, a chapter in the country’s long political struggle has come to an end. May her soul rest in peace.”

Over the death of Khaleda Zia, Bangladeshi singer-songwriter and guitaris Nagarbaul James wrote: “With profound condolences and humble respect, we express our deep sorrow over the death of Begum Khaleda Zia, the three-time Prime Minister of Bangladesh and the leader of the nation.” He prayed for granting her the highest position in Jannatul Firdaus.  Actress Pori Moni in her Facebook status said, “She (Begum Zia) has left . . . She tolerated, she remained. This is how she remained on this map. Begum Khaleda Zia, you won the race actually....” 

Filmmaker, screenwriter and actor Ashfaque Nipun wrote, “May Allah grant you heaven (Jannat). Despite being deprived of human dignity at the hands of your opponents, you were a symbol of determination, beauty and uncompromising. Now have rest in peace, this nation will always remember you with pride.” Actress Azmeri Haque Badhon wrote with deep respect: “We pay with due respect for the sad demise of former Prime Minister of Bangladesh Begum Khaleda Zia. She is an integral part of our country’s political history; her leadership and public service have left a lasting impact on Bangladesh.”

Meanwhile, many other stars from the entertainment world have expressed their profound sorrow and shock at the death of Khaleda Zia, praying for her eternal peace. Of them film actress Apu Biswas, Shabnam Bubli, Nusrat Faria, film actors Siam Ahmed and Chanchal Chowdhury passed their respective remarks over BVNP chairperson’s death. Besides, from the music world, Imran Mahmudul, Porshi and Minar Rahman and some other prominent figures from the showbiz industry, including producer Redoan Rony, expressed their deepest condolences through the social media.
