Speakers for eco-friendly farming practices for sustainable agriculture
A 'Farmers' Partner Congress' meeting with the theme “Agriculture is Prosperity” for the 2025-26 fiscal year' was held in Paba Upazila of the district. The meeting took place today in the Upazila Parishad conference room. The chief guest was Advocate Shafiqul Haque Milon, MP. The meeting was presided over by Paba Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Ibnul Abedin. Upazila Agriculture Officer Agriculturist M.A. Mannan delivered the welcome address.
Paba Upazila BNP Member Secretary Abdur Razzak, Joint Convener Sultan Ahmed, Upazila Statistics Officer Faruk Hossain, Upazila Cooperatives Officer Sultanul Islam also spoke. Officials from various departments, public representatives, and farmer representatives were present on the occasion.
Addressing the farmers, lawmaker Milon said there is no alternative to modernizing the agriculture sector for sustainable development. To strengthen the country's economic foundation, agriculture must be made technology-dependent. “We must protect soil health, ensure balanced fertilizer use, and be cautious with pesticide use. Eco-friendly farming practices are the foundation of future agriculture,” he added.
He further stated that to increase agricultural production and ensure food security, farmers' skills must be enhanced, regular training must be provided, and the use of technology at the field level must be expanded. He also noted that production can be increased manifold through improved seeds, proper fertilizer management, and scientific cultivation methods.
MP Milon said that agriculture is no longer limited to traditional farming practices; rather, it has become a commercial and technology-driven sector. He therefore called on farmers to become more engaged with modern agricultural technology.
