Strict Punishment for Land Fraud! New Regulations Come into Effect

Dhaka: In a significant move to curb land-related fraud, forgery, and illegal occupation across the country, the government has implemented new regulations. Under these rules, if land fraud is proven, strict administrative and legal actions will be taken against the accused. Lawyer Siraj Pramanik stated, “According to Section 6(1) of the new regulations, if anyone is found to have forged or fraudulently prepared land deeds and it is proven in court, the court will send a copy of the judgment to the concerned Deputy Commissioner and Registrar.”

He further added, “If the concerned authorities find the allegation of fraud credible, the accused will be served a show-cause notice.” To prevent illegal occupation, Section 7 of the regulations states that if there is an attempt to evict an illegal occupier or prevent them from entering the land through legal means and resistance arises, the aggrieved party may apply to the designated Executive Magistrate for preventive action. Stakeholders have expressed hope that the enforcement of these regulations will significantly reduce land disputes, fraud, and illegal possession. It is also expected to enhance legal security and promote justice for the general public.
