Teachers vital to building a knowledge-based and humane society: Speakers

Speakers at a discussion marking the World Teachers’ Day today acknowledged the role of teachers in building a knowledge-based, humane and prosperous society.

They said teachers play a key role in inspiring students not only with textbook knowledge but also with morality, humanitarian values and patriotism.

Therefore, it is extremely important to ensure the professional security of teachers as well as to increase their proper dignity and respect in society, they added.

The speakers also mentioned that to ensure quality and modern education, teachers must be provided with up-to-date training, proper use of modern technology in the education sector, and a favorable working environment must be created.

They called upon all concerned to play a responsible role in protecting the overall rights and professional dignity of teachers

Rajshahi District Administration organised the discussion meeting on Monday at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner's office here.

The theme of this year’s World Teachers’ Day is – “Beside Teachers: Protecting the profession, enhancing its dignity and 60 years of building our future”.

With Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Naharul Islam in the chair, Rajshahi District Education Officer Zayedur Rahman, along with heads of various educational institutions, teachers, and concerned officials attended the event.

Officials of the district administration, officers and employees of the education department, and teachers of different levels, highlighted the overall significance of World Teachers' Day.

They made a cordial call to everyone to work together to improve the quality of education.
