Youth shot dead in Khulna

Police recovered the bullet-hit body of a 35-year-old man from a fish farm in Rupsa upazila of Khulna early today. The deceased was identified as Md Bappi, alias Kolom Bappi, son of late Akbar Sheikh of Alaipur village under Ghatbhog union in Rupsa.

Police recovered his body from a fish farm behind Fresh Foods in the Mominbag area of Ilaipur village under Naiyati union around 5:30am. Quoting local residents, police said they spotted Bappi's body lying inside the fish farm and informed police. Later, police went to the spot and recovered the body.

Abdus Sabur Khan, investigation officer of Rupsa Police Station, confirmed the incident.

He said Bappi might have been killed by miscreants sometime between 5am and 5:30am. A bullet mark was found on the right side of his neck, while there was also an injury mark on his head.

The motive behind the killing and the identities of those involved could not immediately be ascertained, he said.

Police are investigating the incident. The body was sent to the morgue of Khulna Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
